The LineUp at Wai Kai: Surfing Paradise on Oahu

The LineUp at Wai Kai: Oahu’s Ultimate Waterfront Playground

The LineUp at Wai Kai is my favorite place to visit on Oahu. I am currently training to surf bigger waves on a short board and there could not be a better place to practice. If you are a beginner... book a session here, you will be way better. If you are intermediate or better, this is the perfect place to practice your next-level moves without getting injured.

Why You NEED to Visit The LineUp at Wai Kai

The LineUp is the ultimate spot for adventure, food, and good vibes in Hawaii. Whether you’re looking to shred waves, explore the lagoon, grab some great food, or just vibe out with friends, this place has it all.

Reservations recommended for surfing and lagoon activities
Best time to visit: Sunset sessions for unreal views and golden-hour vibes

1. Surf the World’s Largest Deep-Water Standing Wave

The centerpiece of The LineUp is the Wai Kai Wave, a 100-foot-wide deep-water standing wave where you can ride perfect, endless waves no matter your skill level. (30ft & 60ft offered mostly)

Why it’s epic:
Adjustable wave sizes – Beginners can cruise on gentle waves, while pros can carve up barreling sections.
Pro surfer coaching – Learn from experienced instructors or fine-tune your technique.
Night surfing – Keep the stoke going under the lights for a one-of-a-kind session.

2. Explore the Wai Kai Lagoon

Right next to the surf wave is the stunning 52-acre Wai Kai Lagoon, perfect for paddleboarding, kayaking, and hydro-biking. It’s an incredible place to soak up the sun while getting out on the water.

Things to do on the lagoon:

Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) – Glide across the calm waters and take in the views.
Outrigger canoeing – Experience a traditional Hawaiian paddle sport.
Hydro-bikes – Pedal your way across the lagoon for a fun, easy ride.
Chill on floating loungers – Soak in the tropical vibes in style.

3. Dine & Drink at The LookOut Food & Drink

After an epic session on the waves or the lagoon, refuel at The LookOut, the signature waterfront restaurant and bar at The LineUp.

Why foodies will love it:
Craft cocktails – Try a tropical mai tai or refreshing Wai Kai Wave Mule.
Fresh island-inspired dishes – From poke bowls to mouthwatering smash burgers.
Unreal sunset views – Chill on the outdoor patio while watching surfers ride the waves.
